Migration of John HORGER and Rachel SHULER
1. John HORGER, born 28 Oct 1758 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died abt 1817 in Perry County, Mississippi, son of Jacob HORGER (SR) and Lovisia SHAUMLOFFEL. He married Rachel SHULER, born abt 1766 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died abt 1817 in Perry County, Mississippi, daughter of Georg Nickel SHULER and Rachel [---].
Notes for John HORGER: 1758 On Monday Nove. 27 administered private baptism in my house to John, son of Jacob and Lovisa Horger, born Oct. 28. 1758. Present: John Myer, John Ott. (Rev. Giessendanner)
Children of John HORGER and Rachel SHULER were as follows:
a. Margaret HORGER, born 19 Apr 1785 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died 19 Jul 1853 in Noxubee, Mississippi. She married on 13 Jan 1803 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina Charles GAVIN (JR), born 15 Jul 1775 in Spartanburg District, South Carolina; died 18 Mar 1824 in Cliftonville, Noxabee Co., Mississippi, son of Charles GAVIN and Bathiah BYRD.
Notes for Margaret HORGER: Charles and Margaret Gavin moved from South Carolina to Mississippi about 1817. Records of Perry County, MS Vol. 1, 1820-1830 Tax Rolls show Margaret Gavin with 160 acres and 23 slaves in 1829. The 1830 Noxubee County Census shows Margaret was in Perry County; owned property in 1848. Noxubee Co., MS 1850 census shows Margarett 66 yrs, Allen 38 yrs, Gabriel 32 yrs, Alfred 30 yrs.
b. Jacob HORGER, born 1788 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina. He married unknown.
c. Polly HORGER, born in Orangeburg District, South Carolina. She married [---] REECE.
d. Elizabeth HORGER, born 1792 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died 1869 in Perry County, Mississippi. She married John Lewis DANTZLER, born 15 Aug 1788 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 1852 in Perry County, Mississippi, son of Hans Jacob DANTZLER and Elizabeth Barbara CARN. Migrated to Perry County, Mississippi abt 1812. Settled on east side of the Leaf River opposite land bought by William and Mary (Gavin) Clayton..
e. Ann HORGER, born abt 1800 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina. She married Gabriel FELDER, born 29 Jan 1797 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died in Washington Co., Texas, son of Samuel FELDER and Ann HORGER.
f. Absalom HORGER, born in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died in Holmes Co., Mississippi.
